Marcel Viëtor has been a resident fellow at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) and responsible for energy and climate issues since January 2009. In 2009, he headed the Foreign Energy Policy program. Since January 2010, he has been working on energy and climate politics within the Alfred von Oppenheim-Center for European Studies. Before joining the DGAP, he worked as stagiaire in the energy section of the European Commission’s delegation to Moscow. During his studies he interned at, inter alia, an international energy company in Moscow, the German Embassy in Uzbekistan, the Senate Office of the City-State of Hamburg and the German Parliament.

Marcel Viëtor completed a joint German-Russian Master’s program in International Relations in Berlin/Potsdam (MAIB) and Moscow (MGIMO). Prior to that, he obtained his first Master’s degree in Socio-Cultural Anthropology, East European Studies and Public Law in Hamburg.
