Gereon Schuch is responsible for the Central European Program of the DGAP. The program concentrates on Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary as well as their northern, eastern, and south-eastern border regions.
Prior to his work at the DGAP, Dr. Schuch was a guest lecturer at the University of Pécs in Hungary. At Pécs, he was engaged in researching historical aspects of Hungarian universities and published works dedicated to the problematic subject of continuity and discontinuity of the universities. As a chairman of the MitOst e.V. Board of Directors, Dr. Schuch worked in the area of designing and developing international projects that support cultural exchange and strengthen the civil society. He also carried out various events in cooperation with many foundations and cultural actors.
Gereon Schuch studied at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. After his M.A. in Eastern European History, he wrote a dissertation on the Hungarian history of education and received a PhD at the University in Mainz.
