Since July 2009 Beate Satory is a non-resident Associate Fellow of the German Council on Foreign Relations. She is currently working on her Ph.D. thesis in the theoretical field of international relations; her supervisor is Prof. Sandschneider.

Prior to her dissertation she has been working since 2004 as a research assistant at the German Bundestag for a member of parliament in the field of foreign policy (focus: Russia/CIS, Asia, United Nations). Simultaneously to her work at the parliament she has completed a German-Russian Double-Master’s program “International Relations” at the Free University of Berlin and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

Furthermore, Beate Satory is a fully trained lawyer. From 1994-2001, she studied at the universities of Rostock, Cologne and the Université d’Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand (France). During her legal clerkship (2003-2004) she has served six month at the Foreign Federal Office. In 2002, she has worked for one year in Beijing (China) for a German-Chinese firm organizing education and scientific exchange.

Beate Satory is an active member of the Körber Network Foreign Policy, the “Workshop of the Future” of the Petersburg Dialogue and Chairwoman/Speaker of the YOUNG DGAP.
