The European Union has become one of the world’s important destinations for migrants and refugees. More and more people fleeing violence and political persecution or hoping to escape economic destitution, seek to make a new home in the EU. These new refugees and migrants are having an increasingly difficult time realising these dreams, however. Their chances of receiving grants of entry have decreased in the last years due to growing sentiments in most EU countries that their capacity to accept andintegrate new immigrants is currently overwhelmed.
