G8-Summit no longer appropriate

Interview with Milena Elsinger

In an interview with the German newspaper Wirtschaftswoche, Milena Elsinger said that she did not anticipate major achievements at the G8-Summit, which is due to take place next week in Italy. Important results are not to be expected from the summit as the decisions are not binding for the participants. Moreover, the forum has lost its relevance because global problems can no longer be solved only by the G8-states themselves. “Important emerging countries such as China and India should be completely integrated in the structure of the summit,” said Elsinger.
