In an interview with the Czech Radio Station Český rozhlas Marie-Lena May, program-officer at the Center for Central and Eastern Europe of the Robert Bosch Stiftung at the DGAP, commented on the Czech EU presidency which ends on June 30, 2009. The fall of the Czech government in March negatively influenced the perception of the Czech presidency. But the presidency can claim several achievements: e.g., the outcome in the energy sector exceeded the expectations and the launch of the Eastern Partnership was an important step towards a new policy with the neighboring countries in the East.

Central Asia between Russia, China and the EU
On the 20th of January 2010 Dr. Stefan Meister spoke in the context of a panel discussion organized by the DGAP Forum NRW and the Deutsch-Usbekische Gesellschaft about the increasing importance of Central Asia for the EU in Bonn. At the event Meister pointed out, that the EU is competing increasingly regarding resources and influence with China and Russia in the region. (20.01.2010)
